The Reverend Joshua Mikel Walker

A native of Sussex County, Virginia, Rev. Joshua Mikel Walker and his wife, Sunni, are the proud parents of their son, Josun M. Walker.

Rev. Walker preached his trial sermon at the age of nine on December 14, 2004, at Cuffie Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church in  Dendron, Virginia. He graduated with honors from Sussex Central High School in 2013 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religious Studies from Livingstone College in Salisbury, North Carolina, in 2018. He is currently enrolled at Hood Theological Seminary  in Salisbury, North Carolina, where he is pursuing a Master of Divinity degree.

In July 2016, he was ordained a Deacon at the 150th Annual Session of the Virginia Conference. Two years later, in October 2018, he was ordained an Elder by Bishop W. Darin Moore at the Mid-Atlantic Leadership Training Institute. Throughout his ministry, Rev. Walker has been blessed to serve under the guidance of Bishops, Presiding Elders, and ministers whose leadership has shaped his pastoral journey. 

Deeply committed to the growth and success of the church, Rev. Walker loves the Lord and acknowledges that without Him, he would be like a ship without a sail. He currently serves as the Pastor of Price Cathedral A.M.E. Zion Church in Wilmington, North Carolina, within the Cape Fear Conference. 

As he continues his Christian journey, Rev. Walker holds close the words spoken to Joshua in Joshua 1:9–11: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
